Depending on your location and the time of year the rising sun can create some real drama.
Utah
Good Morning
Each morning on Lake Powell brought new light depending on clouds and the location of our camp sites.
Lake Powell Sheep
We were cruising the canyons on jet skis when we came upon this small group of wild sheep coming for water. They were a bit suspicious but not afraid.
Reflection Canyon
Early mornings on Lake Powell are so tranquil. There has been no watercraft traffic or winds to stir up the water.
Top of the Mountain
We recently spent a few days in Park City, Utah. Took the chair lift up. Looks a lot different in the summer with no snow.
Great Bear Lake Cabin
Our most recent adventure was a road trip through parts of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. When leaving Logan, UT using highway 89 it takes you to Great Bear Lake. The lake straddles Utah and Idaho. This old cabin was on the Idaho side
Monument Valley B&W
On this trip I’ve visited the Painted Desert, Canyon de Chelly, Antelope Canyon, and Monument Valley. It just keeps getting better. Having seen most of the films shot here it was very exciting to see it live . The conditions were cloudy with some rain so even though I got out at sunset and sunrise neither lasted very long because of the weather. So like Antelope Canyon I’m already planning another trip. I’ll post two three or four and will start with a classic view that I took at first light. I didn’t see John Wayne or John Ford but I was thinking of them when I took this.
Quiet Moon
On our last day at Zion I wanted to try to find a location to capture the moon rise. I was late as you can see from the Moon’s height but it was still giving off some glow to the mountains. Zion is a wonderment of nature and I plan on going back during the winter in order to see those rock formations with snow on them.
