Good Morning
Each morning on Lake Powell brought new light depending on clouds and the location of our camp sites.
River Clouds
This past weekend I was in Northern California staying near the San Joaquin River. I don’t often use HDR in my photography but in this case the clouds were moving so fast with changing light it was too temping to pass up. Taken from a boat dock shooting into the water.
Yesterday’s Docks
Port Gamble is on the Kitsap Peninsula and these docks were used to load lumber ships which sailed world wide in the early 19th century.
Reflection Pool
This pool, on Bainbridge Island, was built and dedicated to Virginia Bloedel by her husband Prentice.
Bloedel Reserve
My first post of 2014 comes from the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, WA. We were on the island visiting my son’s family and took the four grandkids there for a hike. It was cold, raining, and cloudy. There was very little in bloom but I did find this Golden Weeping Willow which is a hybrid and has this wonderful winter color.
The Reserve’s 150 acres has natural woodlands, landscaped gardens, including a Japanese Garden, a Moss Garden, a Reflection Pool and the Bloedels’ former estate home. Portions of the property over look the sound.
Christmas Morning
This was the Seattle skyline shot from the Bainbridge Ferry this morning at 5:45AM.
Avila Morning
I’m home for a while and have been going out to some favorite local spots. This is Avila Bay at first light using a 90 sec exposure.
Wailua Falls
A trip to Kauai has to include these iconic falls The viewing area was packed. Trying to find an open space and keeping folks away long enough for a mid day long exposure took some negotiations. Still didn’t get the exact shot I wanted but next time I’ll try early or late to avoid the crowds.
Tahoe Boathouse
On our last day in Tahoe I walked down to the lake shore to get a sunset and saw this boathouse. There was some controlled burning in the area which gave part of the sky and distant clouds the orange hue.
