Lake Powell Sheep
We were cruising the canyons on jet skis when we came upon this small group of wild sheep coming for water. They were a bit suspicious but not afraid.
Rainbow over Lanai
Here is a rare early morning rainbow over the Island of Lanai taken on our recent trip to Maui. The vast majority of these are in the afternoon after the clouds build up.
Drift Log
A solitary piece of driftwood on the shoreline of Puget Sound near Fay Bainbridge Park.
Humpback Whale?
No, just the rocks jutting out from the beach at Montana de Oro State Park near Los Osos, CA.

Succulants in Yellow
I was driving through this community on the way home today and saw these succulents with really tall bright yellow corkscrew blooms. The speed sign in the right of the shot can give you a sense of their height.
Drought
Shell Creek is an hour drive northeast of me and in the spring it is a landscape photographers paradise. This year, with the lack of rain, it was very different. Normally this area would be full of yellow, blue, and red wild flowers and water would be running in the creek. You can see that nature tried very hard. I hope to post a comparison post this time next spring to show the difference.
Bamboo Forest
The Pipiwai Trail in the Haleakala National Park at Oheo Gulch has a section of dense Bamboo. The park has tried to make the hike a little easier by putting in steps seen here and walkways in many of the wet and muddy areas.
Baby Bamboo
The Pipiwai trail hike is located in the Haleakala National Park at Oheo Gulch. It is a 4 mile round trip hike up a valley to the falls. On the way you walk through a bamboo forest so thick you rarely see sunshine. I happened upon these baby bamboo plants just as the sun hit them. I have other shots of the forest and the falls which I’ll post later but wanted to show how this simple shot turned out.
